School Of Motion – Animation Bootcamp

Soon we’ll be updating our information page to reflect these changes, but for now, here is a rundown of the new Animation Bootcamp.

The actual content of the course is mostly unchanged. Our #1 priority with version 2.0 was to make the course more accessible, and to make it more “finishable” to everyone who signs up. It’s a demanding course, and we wanted to provide as many resources and opportunities as possible to get the most out of Bootcamp.  So, with that in mind…

We doubled the critique window for student work.

The course is tough, and many students fall behind towards the end. We wanted to ensure that motivated students don’t miss out on the incredibly valuable critiques that our TA’s provide, so we’ve DOUBLED the critique window.  Bootcamp ends after week 6, but now you can have an extra 6 weeks to finish exercises you hadn’t gotten to yet.

We have a brand new Student Portal with great new features.

We’ve built a custom Student Portal to host current and future School of Motion courses. This means that you can now log-in to one place to access any course you’ve purchased from us, and we can now have a lot more control over the user experience. We can keep track of your progress, and stay on top of the student experience. It’s also mobile-ready.

We’re now offering a 3-month payment plan.

By (very) popular demand, we’ve added the ability to pay for Animation Bootcamp with 3 monthly payments as opposed to one upfront payment. This option makes the course more affordable to many, and we’re happy to finally offer it.  This may change, but for the moment there are no additional finance charges for using this option.

NOTE: We cannot accept Paypal payments for payment plans at this time, only credit cards may be used.

We’ve added an incredible critiquing tool to the course.

Students will spend most of their time in the private Facebook group checking out and critiquing their fellow students’ work. However, your TA’s will be using Frame.io, an incredible critiquing platform, to offer students very detailed and personalized feedback on EVERYTHING you submit.

We’ve replaced the live webinars with a weekly recap show: “This Week in Bootcamp.”

Our classes fill up with students from every continent (except the really cold one near the south pole.)  This, plus the fact that more than half of our students work full-time meant that less than 25% of our students were actually attending the webinars “live.”  We’re now putting more production into our weekly recap / deep-dive session and calling it “This Week in Bootcamp.”  Each week you’ll watch an hour-long episode that features current student work and goes even deeper into the topics of the week.

We’ve rebalanced the course-load.

After nearly 300 students, we’ve learned a few things about the course. We have listened to a LOT of student feedback and restructured a few lessons and exercises to keep the workload a bit more consistent, while tweaking some of the exercises to be more effective at testing your proficiency in a certain skill. This class is battle-tested, robust, and more effective than ever.

Same great course, better bones.

We will continue to refine this course (and others) as we grow and get more students. One of the great things about this course is that you get lifetime access, so any updates we do in the future will be available to you.
