When it comes to increasing sales for your ecommerce store, there are really only 2 ways to proceed.

Introducing Peep Laja

Over the past few years, Peep Laja has really taken the conversion world by storm with his blog over at ConversionXL.com. I don’t read that many blogs but Peep’s is definitely one that is on my list.

In fact whenever I have a question about conversions or split testing, I often fire Peep a quick email and he responds with the solution.

Why do I trust his judgement? It’s because this is what he does for a living. He lives and breathes conversion optimization and he’s been helping online businesses improve their sales for many years.

So when he told me that he was starting a conversion course, I was super excited. As you all probably know, I run my own online store at http://bumblebeelinens.com and conversion optimization is always at the top of my priority list.

In fact, I’m constantly running tests on my own site and there are so many intricacies and subtleties to improving conversions that it really helps to have an expert guide you along the way. But here’s the thing.

When it comes to learning conversion optimization, I’ve never ever come across a good class on the subject. In fact, good information about conversion optimization is difficult to find and I’ve pretty much had to learn things myself through trial and error.

And as a result, I’ve made a ton of boneheaded mistakes in the process.

Enter Peep’s Conversion Course

Thankfully, Peep has given me access to his full blown course and I was lucky to have an opportunity to review it in this post. First off, Peep’s class is a 12 week class that will teach you all of the intricacies of conversion optimization.

Through the use of both video and text, he will walk you through the process of how to analyze your existing website for hotspots where customers are abandoning your site. And then he will show you how to plug these holes using various methods and how to split test your changes.

If you own an online store or if you sell anything for that matter, this course will help you improve your sales.

My Review

Now that I’ve described his course at a very high level (for more detailed info, you can click here to check out his sales page), it’s time for me to get down and dirty and give you my real opinion of his course.

First off, I have quite a bit of experience in this area already. I’ve run my online store for about 7 years and I’ve been split testing my site and optimizing sales for quite some time.

In addition, I have a decent amount of experience with optimizing long form and short form landing pages through the creation of my online store course. Anyways, the reason why I’m telling you this is because I didn’t take Peep’s course as a complete newbie.

I know what it takes to optimize the conversion rate of a website so I can give you a realistic opinion about the claims being made on Peep’s Conversion Course sales page.

The Bottom Line

So here’s the bottom line. While Peep’s course provides an incredible overview of conversion optimization and provides many excellent examples of websites that he’s helped in the past, I don’t think that you’ll instantly become a conversion expert after going through his material and videos.

Conversion optimization is an art form and can’t readily be taught in a vacuum no matter how good the material is. The key to learning conversion optimization is through experience. And this is where Peep’s course truly shines.

His course will provide you with the foundation you need with which to set up your conversion experiments properly. You’ll still have to do a lot of learning on your own through trial and error but at least you’ll know and understand what the best practices are and the RIGHT way to analyze and setup your tests.

But most importantly, you’ll have access to Peep. Like I mentioned before, optimizing your site for conversions is an art and takes a ton of practice. It’s not always black and white which is why it helps to have a mentor at your disposal to answer your questions.

Therefore, I highly recommend Peep’s class to anyone looking to establish a solid conversion optimization foundation. If you are serious about improving the sales for your online business, make sure you check out his course before he shuts it down.
